Two New Arrests at Kiln Creek Underage Brothel: Auto Mechanic & Father Charged

Update: 2/27/2026 5:30 PM EST Luther Edward Hyatt was granted bond and released from the jail at 4:52 PM EST.

Editors Note! This story has gained a lot of attention the past week. The entire situation is very strange, we've been asked why we used the word "Brothel" in the title of the article. Well, for one the four men appear to all be unknown to each other, they thought they were going to a home in Kiln Creek to buy a kid for prostitution and we know this because the word prostitution appears in all of their charges, what would you call that? To be clear, we do not believe this was a brothel but more likely some type of police operation, however the four men aparantly thought it was.

What is a brothel: A brothel is a business establishment or house where sex workers are available to clients for payment

Update: 2/18/2026 11 AM EST BOND APPEAL DENIED A SECOND TIME FOR EDWARD CLAYPOOL He will remain in custody at least until his next court date March 11, 2026.  The preliminary hearing is set for April 14, 2026. The entire case has been kept under wraps since the start however one things is clear, Claypool and Hyatt may very well remain in jail until trial which can many times take around a year before the judge has the final say. Timothy Clancy is a top lawyer in the area, if he failed to convince the judge to allow Claypool to post bond, it's unlikely anyone would be able to. Both Claypool and Hyatt are likely having an extreamly hard time in the Newport News jail as Police Ping learned with the recent arrest of Robert Dessoffy of Newport News who was served a good portion of inmate justice at the same jail Claypool and Hyatt are housed. Dessoffy was reportly at the hospital for over a week after he was attacked for his crimes against a kid. The Dessoffy trial is set for March 2026. We even went by the jail to ask some questions about Dessoffy and were stalked by the deputies because we were filming 

Update: 2/13/2026 7 AM EST Nicholas Aaron Jones has bonded out of jail. Claypool and Hyatt remain in custody at the Newport New city jail.

While one of the men arrested that night on the same charges has already posted bond and been released, Claypool and Hyatt remain in custody.

SHOCK MOVE BY JUDGE - BOND DENIED! Court records reference a warrant, and we are currently working to determine the details surrounding it. Under normal circumstances, Claypool would have likely qualified for bond; however, additional factors may have influenced the decision — such as evidence recovered from a phone or newly discovered information. Claypool remains in custody for reasons that have not been publicly disclosed. An appeal filed by Timothy Clancy was denied by the judge on 02/18/2026. This situation is considered highly unusual, given that Claypool has no prior criminal record and has been a long-time resident of the community with stable housing and employment.

While the allegations against these individuals are serious in nature, all citizens are guaranteed the right to due process and a fair trial.

Hyatt was granted bond on 2/27/2026 remains in custody and has filed an appeal to his bond refusal judgement which is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2026.

Four new arrests at a home in Kiln Creek which was the same location on Holbrook Dr Christian Mitchell was arrested two days ago on similar charges. In addition, Luther Edward Hyatt was also taken into custody at the home on Holbrook Dr.

Claypool is currently employed at Southern Chevrolet on Jefferson Avenue in Newport News acording to this Linked In page and this Facebook profile page . Claypool has two high school age daughters. Edward Lawrence Claypool is listed as a graduate of Warwick High School in the class of 1999 in Newport News, Virginia
