Armed & Dangerous -- Who Is Murder Suspect Joquan Antonio Porter?
Joquan Antonio Porter, 39, is wanted by the Newport News Police Department for first-degree murder (and related firearm charges) in the shooting death of his wife, Keshia Pearley, on April 1, 2026. He is considered armed and dangerous.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Police are actively searching for 39-year-old Joquan Antonio Porter, who is wanted in connection with the murder of his wife following a deadly shooting in the city.
According to the Newport News Police Department, officers responded to the 300 block of Deputy Lane around 12:54 p.m. after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered 37-year-old Keshia Pearley suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified Porter, the victim’s husband, as the primary suspect. Warrants have been issued charging him with:
- First-degree murder
- Use of a firearm in commission of a felony
- Discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling
Police say Porter is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 12:54 p.m., officers with the Newport News Police Department responded to the 300 block of Deputy Lane in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female, identified as 37-year-old Keshia Pearley, inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
NNPD’s investigation swiftly identified the victim’s husband, Joquan Antonio Porter, a 39-year-old Newport News man, as the suspect in this case. He is currently wanted by NNPD. Warrants have been issued charging Porter with:
First-degree murder
Use of a firearm in commission of a felony
Discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling
