Immigration Raids in Hampton Roads? Some Say ICE is IN TOWN
Unconfirmed reports of Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid(s) in Newport News on Friday as businesses prepare for the upcoming July 4th holiday.

Earlier this month, 14 were detained at the Chesterfield County courthouse just south of Richmond. Witnesses claim four people were detained by ICE agents last week in Gloucester. We now have several (unconfirmed) reports about police activity at a popular restaurant in the Denbigh section of the city earlier today.
The Juicy Crab, located at 12638 Jefferson Ave Suite in Newport News was visited by several officers and/or agents today who reportedly detained some of the occupants. It's unknown if these detainees worked at the restaurant or were patrons. Social media users suggest other area businesses may have also been raided today.
Both Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones and Newport News Public School Chair Lisa Surles are typical government puppets who could care less about the TRUE cost of illegal immigration and how it impacts the citizens, especially the poor. In 2023, Illegal immigration was estimated to cost $150.7 billion nationwide.
As housing rates skyrocket, hotel prices go through the roof and day to day costs have forced many to the streets and/or living in their cars, why would these political hacks even consider adding to the horrible economy and inflation which THEY CAUSED for such as small percentage of the population that can't even vote?
The school system is clearly unable to understand illegal immigration not only costs us big bucks, it adds to classroom size, more teachers are needed, more infrastructure, packed buses, more fights, the list goes on and on. Inflation is caused by government not us. Government is 100% funded by the citizens, and it's currently $36.21 trillion in debt. When you're that broke, do you give away money?
Homeschooling is growing fast because more and more parents don't want their children to be taught the cities idea of Budgeting 101. If this is how they run their economy class, what do you think goes on in the others? While citizens struggle to pay their rent or even find a place to live, the city just hands out free educations, lodging, food & vouchers to people that cut the line and are forcing the migrants that tried to come in the correct way to now wait indefinitely.
The Department of Homeland Security once labled the city (among many others in the area) as "obstructing immigration enforcement." and was listed as being a sanctuary jurisdiction. The page which was posted on the federal dhs.gov website has since been removed.
According to FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform), illegal immigrants do in fact contribute about $265 million in state tax revenue, however that means very little when compared to the $1.9 billion, which is the estimated costs of illegal immigration costs the taxpayers of Virginia in 2024.
The mayor and city have recently come under fire for their botched response to a shooting incident where the victim lay suffering from his gunshot wounds for over 30 minutes before finally being taken to the hospital. When local news media attempted to obtain public records regarding the incident, mayor Jones and the Newport News Police Department denied the FOIA request and to this day have still not released the bodycam, timeline of events or any other documents
A FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) is a state law that guarantees citizens and the media access to public records held by public bodies, officials, and employees.
