Bonded Out for Robbery, Busted for Murder: Jacquese Ihienkonye's Shocking New Charges
Newport News, VA – Jacquese Ihienkonye has been arrested and charged with murder. He was taken into custody early Sunday evening at Riverside Hospital on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. At the time of his arrest, Ihienkonye was already out on bond for one count of robbery involving the use of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery involving the use of a firearm. He was scheduled to appear in court on March 23 for a preliminary hearing related to those charges.

UPDATE This appears to be a suspect in the Palace Inn shooting last week. Court records indicate the murder took place on Tuesday 02/17/2026 which is the same day of the Palace Inn shooting.
ALLEGED It would appear the victim and shooter shot each other. According to the newly filed charges, Ihienkonye aparantly tried to rob the victim 19 year old Taurion Reed of Newport News

The arrest occurred at Riverside Hospital. It's possible that the suspect is the second person shot on Tuesday, who was taken into custody upon being released. Reports mentioned a second victim from the shooting, though no names were ever disclosed.
