ORIGINAL: (Duluth, Ga., Jan 31, 2025) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is requesting assistance from the public to identify a suspect involved in an armed robbery.
On January 14, at approximately 9:15 a.m., officers assigned to our Central Precinct responded to an armed robbery at a check-cashing business located at 3675 Satellite Blvd in unincorporated Duluth. Gwinnett County 911 dispatch advised officers that an armed individual attempted to rob the business and discharged at least one gunshot through the establishment’s front door before fleeing the location on foot.
Upon arrival, officers secured the premises, interviewed potential victims and witnesses, and began collecting evidence. One victim stated she had entered the business through the front door, which is set to close automatically once someone enters. Moments later, a suspect described as a black male wearing a white jacket and a face mask began banging on the lobby door. The suspect then pointed a firearm at her and demanded she open the door.
As the victim pressed the panic button, the suspect fired a shot, shattering the front glass door. Once inside, the suspect demanded that the victim open the safe at the location. When the victim informed him that she could not open the safe, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Just two days later, on January 16, a suspect matching the same description attempted another robbery at a check-cashing business in Smyrna. Investigators from Gwinnett County Police and Smyrna Police believe the same individual is responsible for both incidents.
