Update: Maryland Man arrested for Shooting in Bailey’s Crossroads

Mason Police District- Detectives from our Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Team have arrested a man for his involvement in the shooting that occurred on May 1 in Bailey’s Crossroads.

Through their investigation, detectives determined Evangel McNeill, 35, of Maryland was arguing with an adult male outside of a nightclub on May 1. McNeill then discharged a firearm, striking the victim multiple times. McNeill then fled the area before police arrived on scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital and remains hospitalized in non-life-threatening condition.

Through coordination with the Prince George’s County Police Department, our Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Team located McNeill in Maryland and took him into custody. He is being held at the Prince George’s County Jail awaiting extradition back to Fairfax County where he will be charged with Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Mason Police District  Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a non-fatal shooting that left one man hospitalized in Bailey’s Crossroads.

Yesterday at 1:02 a.m., officers responded to the 5800 block of Seminary Road in Bailey’s Crossroads for a shooting. An adult male was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body and was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the suspect and victim were verbally arguing outside of a business before the shooting. The suspect then discharged a firearm, hitting the victim. The suspect is described as a Black male with a skinny build, long dreadlocks, blue jeans, and a black jacket. Due to a large crowd in the area, Virginia State Police, Arlington County Police Department, and the Alexandria City Police Department responded to assist. The investigation is ongoing.
