Woodbridge Man Arrested for Burglary After Being Released from Jail

West Springfield Police District— Officers from our Patrol Bureau have arrested a Woodbridge man after he stole a vehicle and burglarized a home in Burke.

On May 27, at 7:02 p.m., officers responded to the 9500 block of Millgate Place in Burke for a burglary. The complainant reported that an unknown man was in her home. The victim armed herself with a weapon and the man fled the home and left in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle nearby and took the suspect into custody.

Through their investigation, officers discovered Derling Gustavo Hernandez, 28, of Woodbridge stole a vehicle from the Fairfax County Courthouse after being released earlier in the day from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Hernandez was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention center and charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny-Auto Theft, Destruction of Property, Credit Card Theft, and Drunk in Public. He was held on no bond.
