Dallas Police Department Investigating Death In Custody

The preliminary investigation determined that an officer observed a vehicle at Lake June Road and Jim Miller Road and ran the license plate. Two felony warrant hits returned, one for aggravated sexual assault and burglary with intent.
The officer initiated a traffic stop.
While at the scene of the traffic stop, the driver complained of chest pains. The officer called Dallas Fire Rescue at 1:48 a.m. to examine him. DFR arrived, he was medically cleared, and officers transported him to the Southeast Patrol Station to be interviewed.
While walking into the interview room, the driver told officers he was feeling ill.
Dallas Fire Rescue was immediately notified and responded to the Southeast Patol Station, where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing and being investigated by the Dallas Police Special Investigations Unit under case numbers 059924-2025 and 059953-2025.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office was notified and will conduct their own investigation.
The Office of Community Police Oversight was notified.
