Hope and Healing: Fairfax County’s Commitment to Crime Victims’ Rights

Fairfax County, VA – Each year, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week serves as a crucial reminder of the strength and resilience of those impacted by crime. From April 6-12, we recognize this important week by reaffirming our commitment to supporting survivors and ensuring they have access to justice, resources, and healing.

The Fairfax County Police Department’s Victim Services Division (VSD) plays a vital role in helping victims navigate the aftermath of crime. Our dedicated Victim Services Specialists work tirelessly to provide compassionate support, guiding survivors through legal processes and connecting them with essential services. Whether through emotional support, crisis intervention, or practical assistance, we stand with victims every step of the way.

How We Support Victims:

Victim Services Specialists offer a wide range of resources to those impacted by crime, including:

  • Emotional Support & Crisis Intervention – Helping victims process trauma and cope with the emotional impact of crime.
  • Guidance Through the Criminal Justice System – Assisting victims in understanding their rights and navigating court proceedings.
  • Connecting Resources – Providing referrals for emergency shelters, counseling, legal advocacy, and financial assistance.
  • Safety Planning – Working with victims to develop personalized plans to enhance safety and well-being.

Victims’ Rights:

Under Virginia law, crime victims have the right to be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect. They also have the right to be informed of case updates, protection from intimidation, and access to victim compensation programs. Our VSD team ensures that every victim knows their rights and receives the support they need.

Join Us in Supporting Survivors!
