On April 19, 2025, at 2:49 p.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station were dispatched to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 13600 block of Daimler Street, Moreno Valley. Upon arrival, deputies located a male, later identified as Xavier Cox, a 22-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, suffering from gunshot injuries. Deputies rendered medical aid to Cox until paramedics arrived. Cox was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Based on the circumstances, the Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

During the investigation, the individual responsible for the shooting was identified and transported to the station to speak to investigators. This individual was cooperative with the investigation and was later released. This investigation remains ongoing, and the case will be submitted to the District Attorney's Office for review at a later time.

This appears to be an isolated incident, and there's no threat to the public. No further information will be released at this time.
